Screenshot Gold is designed around real files and folders on your Mac. Your routine screenshot archive stays on your device by default, and the company does not receive a private copy of every image you capture.

The core promise
What can Screenshot Gold see?
Screenshot Gold needs access to capture and organize screens on your Mac, but that does not mean the company receives the routine archive.
Optional AI is explicit
No company AI service reads every screenshot by default. If you invoke an AI feature or enable an automatic AI workflow, the selected image, prompt, context, or audio may be sent directly to the provider you configured.
No private archive for company training
Screenshot Gold does not take your routine screenshot archive to train the product or company models. Third-party AI providers apply their own terms to content you intentionally submit.
No data-selling business
Screenshot Gold does not sell your screenshot data and does not serve advertising inside the product.
Storage
Where are screenshots saved?
The app works with the folders you choose on your Mac, so your archive remains understandable outside the application.
On your Mac by default
The underlying screenshots are normal files stored in your chosen Screenshot Gold folders. Your memories are not meant to depend on a private company cloud remaining online forever.
Backups are your choice
You can back up the Screenshot Gold folder to an external drive or place it in a cloud-synced location you trust. Large visual histories may be faster to browse from local storage.
Aliases avoid unnecessary copies
All Screenshots can expose aliases to organized captures without creating another full copy of each original image.
Deletion remains a file decision
Because the archive uses files and folders on your Mac, review your backup and deletion choices with the same care you would use for a photo library.
Permissions
Why does a screenshot app need system access?
macOS controls screen capture and folder access. Screenshot Gold can only perform the workflows you enable when the operating system grants the necessary permission.
Screen capture
The app requires the macOS screen-capture permission to photograph the display. macOS may show its own privacy indicator during capture; Screenshot Gold cannot hide Apple's system indicator.
Folder access
You choose and connect folders so the app can save, route, and organize screenshots in those locations.
Login Items
If you choose to start Screenshot Gold with your Mac, Login Items lets Auto Shots and other chosen workflows return after login. This is optional and controlled through macOS settings.
Locked Mac behavior
Auto Shots pauses when your Mac is locked. It does not keep photographing a locked screen.
Your responsibility
What should users protect?
A detailed screenshot archive can contain deeply personal or confidential information. Treat it like a serious photo library, not a disposable downloads folder.

Choose safe destinations
Avoid routing sensitive captures into shared or publicly synced folders unless that is intentional.

Review automatic capture
Pause Auto Shots or a timed workflow before entering passwords, financial information, confidential meetings, or other screens you do not want preserved.

Keep backups protected
Use the security features of your Mac, external drive, or chosen cloud provider to protect copies of your screenshot archive.
