Screenshot Gold Privacy Policy.

This policy explains what information Screenshot Gold processes through the Mac app, website, downloads, accounts, support, and optional integrations—and the choices you have.

“Screenshot Gold,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the Screenshot Gold product and team. “Services” means the Screenshot Gold Mac application, screenshotgold.com, downloads, accounts, support, and related features.

The short version

Your routine screenshot archive stays local by default.

Screenshot Gold is built around files and folders on your Mac. We do not receive a company-side copy of every screenshot you capture.

Local archive

Ordinary screenshots, recordings, imported media, notes, tags, folder choices, and archive organization are stored on your Mac or in storage locations you choose.

Specific online features

Account access, updates, contact forms, and optional AI or cloud integrations require network requests and send only the data needed for the feature you choose.

No advertising sale

We do not sell screenshot data, use the screenshot archive for cross-context behavioral advertising, or serve advertising inside Screenshot Gold.

You control sensitive capture

Automatic capture can preserve private material visible on screen. Pause it before passwords, financial information, confidential meetings, or anything you do not want saved.

1. Information processed locally

Information that normally remains on your Mac.

The app needs local information to capture, organize, display, and restore your chosen workflows.

Captured and imported content

Screenshots, screen recordings, optional microphone or camera recordings, imported images and videos, extracted text, and files you add to the app.

Organization and context

Folder locations, security-scoped bookmarks, aliases, tags, notes, comments, favorites, saved routes, Work Sessions, notification rules, capture intervals, shortcut assignments, and related archive metadata.

App preferences and history

Display choices, local usage counters, selected apps or screens, exclusions, recent items, generated previews, local diagnostics, and settings needed to restore the app after relaunch.

Photos and connected storage

If you grant Photos or folder access, the app can read the media or locations you selected. A Photos item stored in iCloud may be retrieved through Apple’s Photos framework when you ask to view it.

You control these files through the app, Finder, macOS permissions, and any backup or synchronization provider you choose. Deleting a local item from Screenshot Gold does not necessarily delete copies already stored in Time Machine, an external backup, iCloud Drive, Google Drive, or another service.

2. Account and access data

Information used to create and operate an account.

Screenshot Gold uses Supabase for authentication and access control.

Information you provide

Email address, password, and—when requested during signup—name and a short description of how you plan to use Screenshot Gold.

Account records

User identifier, authentication tokens, account status, plan or trial status, access rules, minimum app version, and timestamps associated with account creation or validation.

Local credential storage

The app stores the remembered login email and session information on the Mac. A saved login password is stored using the macOS Keychain. Logging out clears the local app session but may not delete the account record held by the authentication provider.

Why it is used

To create and authenticate accounts, send password-reset or confirmation messages, prevent unauthorized access, validate eligibility, enforce version requirements, and provide account support.

3. Optional integrations

Connected features send data only when their workflows require it.

These features are optional. Their providers process submitted data under their own terms and privacy policies.

AI features

When you intentionally use an AI feature—or enable an automatic AI feature such as AI Cameraman if it is available—the app may send selected screenshots or image data, prompts, questions, conversation context, extracted text, or audio to the provider configured for that feature. Current integrations may include OpenAI, xAI, Google Vertex AI, Qwen-compatible services, or a local Ollama service. Screenshot Gold sends these requests directly from the app rather than using your routine archive as a company training database.

AI credentials and provider rules

You may supply an API key, service-account file, or local endpoint. Depending on the integration, credentials and response history can be held in memory, macOS Keychain, app preferences, or files on your Mac. Provider retention, model-training, and account rules are controlled by that provider and your provider account settings.

Google Drive and YouTube

If you connect Google, the app may store OAuth tokens locally, read the connected Screenshot Gold folder or YouTube playlist information, and upload the clips or videos you select or configure for automatic upload. Google receives those files and associated metadata.

Automation and sharing

If you enable browser, Finder, Messages, clipboard, Shazam, or other advanced workflows, macOS may allow Screenshot Gold to read limited application state or send content to the destination you chose. The receiving application or service then handles that content under its own rules.

Do not send sensitive screenshots to an AI, cloud, messaging, or media provider unless you are comfortable with that provider receiving them. Disconnecting an integration stops future use by Screenshot Gold but does not automatically delete data already delivered to the provider.

4. Website, downloads, and support

Information processed when you use our website.

Hosting and request data

Website and download providers may process IP address, browser and device information, requested URL, referring page, timestamps, network headers, and security or delivery logs when you visit the site, download the app, or request an update.

Contact messages

The Contact page uses Formspree. If you submit it, Formspree and Screenshot Gold receive the topic, name, email address, message, and technical delivery information. Do not send passwords, confidential archives, or sensitive screenshots unless we specifically request the smallest safe example.

Local website preference

The homepage uses browser local storage to remember the light or dark theme you select. We do not currently use third-party advertising cookies or a dedicated behavioral analytics service on the main Screenshot Gold pages.

External resources

The website may load fonts, scripts, icons, media, or delivery resources from providers such as Google, Google Firebase, and cdnjs. Those providers can receive ordinary network request data when the resource loads.

5. How information is used

We use personal information for defined product purposes.

  • 1

    Provide the Services

Operate accounts, downloads, updates, support, connected features, and requested app workflows.

  • 2

    Secure and troubleshoot

Authenticate access, detect abuse, investigate failures, protect the Services, and respond to privacy or security reports.

  • 3

    Communicate

Send account, confirmation, password-reset, update, support, policy, or service messages. Promotional messages will include any opt-out required by law.

  • 4

    Improve the product

Use feedback and voluntarily supplied examples to understand requested improvements. We do not take the routine private screenshot archive for product or model training.

  • 5

    Comply with law

Enforce agreements, exercise or defend legal claims, respond to lawful requests, and meet regulatory obligations.

6. Disclosure

When information may be shared.

We disclose personal information only as needed for the purposes described here.

Service providers

Providers supporting authentication, hosting, content delivery, forms, email, downloads, updates, security, and technical operations. Current examples include Supabase, Google Firebase, Formspree, Google-hosted resources, and cdnjs.

Providers you choose

AI, cloud-storage, media, messaging, browser, or other providers receive content when you invoke or configure the integration.

Legal and safety reasons

Information may be disclosed when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect rights or safety, investigate fraud or abuse, or respond to valid legal process.

Business changes

Information may be transferred as part of a financing, acquisition, merger, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of assets, subject to this policy and applicable law.

We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not use screenshot content to build advertising profiles.

7. Retention and security

How long information is kept and protected.

Local content

Local screenshots and app data remain until you delete them, remove the application data, or the storage location or backup provider applies its own retention rules.

Accounts and messages

Account, support, security, and service records are retained for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Services, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, meet legal duties, and maintain appropriate business records.

Provider retention

Authentication, hosting, form, AI, Google, and other providers retain information according to their contracts, settings, and privacy policies. We may not control copies submitted directly to them.

Safeguards

We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures appropriate to the information and service. No storage or transmission system is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed.

8. Your choices and rights

Control the information you preserve and share.

Mac permissions

Review or revoke Screen Recording, Photos, Microphone, Camera, Automation, folder, Login Item, and notification permissions in macOS. Some features stop working when required permission is removed.

Capture and integrations

Pause automatic capture, change capture intervals, exclude sensitive applications where supported, disconnect integrations, delete local screenshots, move the archive, or choose a different backup provider.

Account requests

Depending on your location, you may request access, correction, deletion, portability, restriction, or objection regarding personal information controlled by Screenshot Gold, and may withdraw consent where consent is the legal basis. We may verify identity before acting.

California and U.S. state choices

Where applicable, you may have rights to know, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of personal information and to receive equal service when exercising rights. Because we do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, there is no sale or advertising-share opt-out to exercise at this time.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

The main site does not currently conduct cross-site behavioral advertising, so browser Do Not Track signals do not change its behavior. If our practices change, we will update this policy and honor legally required browser-based opt-out signals.

Complaints and appeals

You may contact us about a request, appeal a denied request where applicable, or complain to your local data-protection authority. An authorized agent may submit a request where permitted by law and accompanied by appropriate authority.

To make a privacy request, use the Contact page, select “Privacy or security,” and describe the request. Local screenshot files that we never received must be managed on your Mac or with the backup provider holding them.

9. International users

Legal bases and international processing.

Where EEA, UK, Swiss, or similar law applies, Screenshot Gold processes personal information as necessary to perform a contract, pursue legitimate interests such as operating and securing the Services, comply with legal obligations, or based on consent where required. Information processed by service providers may be transferred to countries with different data-protection laws, using provider safeguards and lawful transfer mechanisms where required.

10. Children

The Services are not directed to children under 13.

Screenshot Gold does not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 through an account or website form. A parent or guardian who uses Screenshot Gold to preserve a child’s digital history should manage the account, permissions, capture settings, storage, and any optional integrations. If you believe a child submitted personal information directly to us, contact us so we can evaluate and delete it as required.

11. Third parties and changes

Other services have their own rules.

Screenshot Gold may link to or interoperate with services we do not control. Their privacy practices are governed by their own notices and agreements. We may update this policy when the product, providers, or law changes. The revised policy will appear here with a new effective date, and we will provide additional notice when legally required.

Privacy contact

Ask a question or exercise a privacy right.

Screenshot Gold is responsible for the personal information it controls. Use the Contact page and choose “Privacy or security.” Include the email connected to your account and the country or state whose rights you are invoking, but never send your password or an entire screenshot archive.
