Screenshot Gold changelog

Version 1 is about to begin.

Screenshot Gold is approaching its first official version. Before dated release notes begin, this is the short history of the core ideas that turned a screenshot utility into a photographic-memory system for the Mac.

Before Version 1

The product grew one missing workflow at a time.

These milestones describe the progression of the product before the official Version 1 changelog. They are not presented as dated public releases.

Compact Panel

The first problem was immediate: the Mac's temporary screenshot thumbnail was too small a workflow for collecting many images. Compact Panel created a persistent place to hold multiple screenshots, drag them into other apps, edit them, save them, and clear the set when the work was finished.

The larger main app

As screenshots accumulated, the product needed more than a compact working surface. The larger app introduced the archive: connected folders, screenshot history, browsing, organization, and a clearer home for the long-term photographic memory.

Screenshot notifications

Saving a valuable screenshot was not enough if it never returned. Notifications added resurfacing, letting selected folders bring motivation, affirmations, reminders, and meaningful images back into daily life.

Work Session

Repeatedly choosing destinations interrupted focused work. Work Session made it possible to select a folder set once and route each new screenshot into those destinations until the session ended.

Shortcuts and advanced settings

The familiar Command-Shift screenshot idea expanded into programmable letters. Personal routes and specialized settings made it possible to capture bursts, monitors, text, ordered screenshot sets, timed moments, and many other workflows directly from the keyboard.

The first official launch

Version 1 will bring these ideas together as the first public chapter of Screenshot Gold: an advanced screen camera for capturing, organizing, and revisiting the digital life that ordinary photo libraries miss.

What happens next

Future releases will be dated here.

Once Version 1 launches, each meaningful product update will receive a dated entry with the version, the user problem, what changed, and any important requirement or limitation.

Specific, not promotional

Entries will explain visible product changes and why they matter instead of filling the page with generic claims.

Honest scope

Small fixes will remain small fixes. Major features will explain the workflow they add and the behavior they preserve.

Searchable history

Customers, reviewers, Google, Gemini, Codex, and other search systems will have a clear first-party record of what Screenshot Gold actually shipped.

Built over time

This page will grow only when real app changes happen. It will not be padded with invented releases or filler updates.

Current status

Screenshot Gold Version 1 is preparing to launch.
