The product
What Screenshot Gold is.
What is Screenshot Gold?
Screenshot Gold is a Mac app for capturing, organizing, and revisiting a photographic history of your digital life. It helps preserve work, discoveries, conversations, games, research, progress, and ordinary moments that a physical camera roll cannot see.
Does it replace the macOS screenshot tools?
No. macOS remains excellent at capturing a screen, window, or selected area. Screenshot Gold extends the workflow around capture with a persistent Compact Panel, multi-folder routing, Auto Shots, Unsorted, Work Sessions, notifications, and programmable shortcuts.
Who is it for?
It is designed for builders, agentic coders, researchers, students, teams, founders, gamers, families, and anyone who wants a richer history of life on a computer.
Why take so many screenshots?
Because ordinary screens become meaningful with time. A finished file shows the result; a screenshot can preserve the surrounding apps, early ideas, mistakes, small wins, crises, and path that produced it.
Capture workflows
How the main features work.
What is the Compact Panel?
It is a persistent working panel that can hold multiple screenshots together. You can keep capturing, edit or drag the images into other apps, save them into chosen folders, and clear the set when the task is complete.
What are Quick Folders?
Quick Folders are the destinations you want close to the current screenshot set. They reduce repeated Finder navigation and can route a screenshot into more than one chosen folder.
What are Auto Shots?
Auto Shots takes screenshots at a time interval you choose while the Mac is awake and unlocked. The resulting history can be browsed by day, week, and month, giving the wider life across your apps a photographic record.
Do Auto Shots run while my Mac is locked?
No. Auto Shots pauses while the Mac is locked.
What is Unsorted?
Unsorted is an inbox for screenshots, images, files, or folders you want to collect immediately and organize later. Items can be dropped onto the Screenshot Gold menu bar icon without stopping to choose the final destination.
What is a Work Session?
A Work Session lets you choose a folder set for a focused period of work. New screenshots are routed into those selected destinations until the session is turned off.
What are Advanced Settings?
They are programmable screenshot workflows assigned to Command-Shift letter shortcuts. Examples include bursts, all connected monitors, silent capture, text extraction, queued screenshots, and time-based sequences.
What do screenshot notifications do?
Notifications resurface images from a folder you choose. They can bring back saved motivation, affirmations, reminders, or meaningful ideas without sending you into a social feed.
Files and privacy
Storage, access, and backups.
Where are my screenshots saved?
Your screenshots remain on your Mac by default in the folders you choose. You may place or back up those folders in a cloud-synced location if you want to use a storage provider you trust.
Can Screenshot Gold see my screenshots?
The company does not receive a company-side copy of every screenshot you take. Specific content leaves the Mac only when an online feature requires it—for example, when you submit a selected screenshot to an AI provider or upload a configured clip to Google Drive or YouTube.
Is AI analyzing every screenshot?
No. AI analysis is not applied to the routine archive by default. If you invoke an AI feature or enable an automatic AI workflow, the selected screenshot, prompt, context, or audio may be sent to the provider you configured under that provider's terms.
Does Screenshot Gold sell data or show ads?
No. Screenshot Gold does not sell screenshot data or serve advertising.
Where is the formal Privacy Policy?
Read the complete Screenshot Gold Privacy Policy for details about local files, accounts, optional integrations, website data, providers, retention, and legal rights.
How should I back up a large archive?
Keep a protected external-drive copy or use a cloud-synced folder you trust. Very large visual histories may remain faster to browse from local storage.

Is the Mac app signed and notarized?
